Ahmedabad: Airport worker hands over 1kg of gold found in washroom to customs officials

AHMEDABAD: In a inspiring story of integrity, a housekeeping worker at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) airport in Ahmedabad handed over 1kg of gold that he found in a washroom, to customs officials. The incident took place on Thursday at the international terminal i.e. Terminal-II of SVPI airport. Gautam Adani, chairman of Adani Group, whose subsidiary company operates and manages the airport, appreciated the honesty and integrity of the staffer and personally acknowledged it.
With the price of gold at Rs 51,900 per 10g in Ahmedabad on Saturday, the gold bar was worth Rs 51.9 lakh.
Chirag Parmar, the 21-year-old worker, was on duty at the international terminal early in the morning in the arrivals area. “While cleaning the washrooms, Parmar found the gold bar in one of the stalls. He brought it to the notice of the authorities concerned and handed over the gold bar to customs officials,” said a source in the airport who was privy to the development.
