Anti-smog gun trial venue changed due to glitch
Ludhiana: Amidst technical difficulties, civic officials conducted a trial run of anti-smog guns at Hambran Road on Saturday. The trial run was to be conducted at Ferozepur Road, but officials changed the location due to heavy traffic. Also, officials will require large quantity of water to run the anti-smog guns.
The officials claimed they would have to see for how long they could use potable water supply for this purpose. At least 10,000 litres of water is required to run a big machine for an hour. The anti-smog guns are supposed to settle dust particles suspended in the air.
Officials have been preparing for this trial run since Saturday morning and the genset created difficulties. The machine was moved on the road and officials checked the speed which they needed to use it at. The anti smog guns will be used in the days to come, when smog descends on the city. Officials also said that another trial is to be conducted on Sunday.
Additional commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal said, “There was some issue with the genset as to run this machine, we require a generator, as well. The purpose of doing trial run was to check its effectiveness.” He said that as of now, potable water supply was being used because people are still apprehensive about the use of recycled water. He said in future, they will use water treated in the sewage treatment plants.
