Kanpur: The two-day “13th Kanpur Arthroplasty course 2022” began here on Saturday with a discussion on knee replacement.
Director of course and noted ortho specialist AS Prasad said UP Arthroplasty Society has been organising this event every year with an aim to train young doctors in arthroplasty. The society had trained around 1000 doctors so far. UP Medical Council of India which was converted into National MCI had already recognized this course.
Arthroplasty is a surgical procedure to restore the function of a joint. A joint can be restored by resurfacing the bones. An artificial joint (called a prosthesis) may also be used. This year the society had invited two international faculties- Dr James Horty from Ireland and John Redmond from USA. While Redmond, a noted robotic joint replacement surgeon, will deliver an online lecture about how joint replacements could take place with the help of robots Horty will speak about how one can execute joint replacement surgery without robots.
Prasad said this year their theme was “Sharing the right solutions”.
Invited faculties would share their experiences with aspirants and apprise them about other procedures and their fineness and how one could reach to a conclusion.
Doctors from all over the country will attend the programme.
