Ranchi: In an effort to make the students aware about cyber crimes and safety measures against cyber bullying, the school education and literacy department has directed all the schools to celebrate “Cyber Awareness Day” (Cyber Jagrookta Diwas) on the first Wednesday of every month to promote cyber hygiene as a mass awareness campaign for school students.
As part of the information and communication technology curriculum for primary and middle school students, the school will celebrate Cyber Awareness Day and educate the students about cyber security. Aakash Kumar, district superintendent of education, said, “Nowadays, children also use communication gadgets and social media. So, in order to protect them from cyber bullying, they will be taught about the safety measures they should follow while surfing the web. As cyber security is a component of the information and communication technology curriculum in elementary and middle school, it is vital to equip pupils with the skills to deal with such unforeseen circumstances. The children are the change agents, and their parents will learn about cyber security through them.”
Teachers will display cyber crime-related posters, advertisements, and other lessons on the smart TV in order to educate children about cyber crime.
Students will learn about the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (14C), which deals with cyber crimes, as well as the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal, which is helpful in filing complaints on cyber crime with ease.
Neha Singh, principal of Government Middle School, said, “Students will be aware of cyber bullying and the safe use of social media as a result of this endeavour. Students of classes VI to X, especially girls, will be instructed on how to use social media securely.”
