Kerala: Duo arrested for black magic using a child remanded to judicial custody

KOTTAYAM: The woman and her male friend who were arrested for indulging in black magic were remanded to judicial custody in Pathanamthitta on Friday. Shobhana Thilak (51), residing in Laksham Veedu colony in Malayalappuzha, was sent to the women's prison in Thiruvananthapuram while Unnikrishnan (31) was sent to Kottarakkara jail.
According to Malayalappuzha SHO K S Vijayan, IPC sections 420, 508, 34 IPC and the Drugs and Magic Remedies (objectionable advertisement) Act were charged against the duo.
The case was based on the statement by the father of a child who was used for black magic by the arrested. The video of the incident, which happened two years ago, was widely circulated. The boy was seen fainting and falling during the pooja. On Thursday, police had taken the duo into custody after residents protested outside the house.
