Coimbatore: More than 200 employees of the mills run by the National Textile Corporation (NTC) staged a protest in the district on Friday, demanding payment of wages that were withheld for the past three months.
They also demanded Diwali bonus, as per the customary practice. The protestors said the mills were not operated to their full potential after the outbreak of
Covid. Pointing out that they were being paid only half the wages citing the pandemic, they said even that was not paid for the past three months.
As a result, the workers said they were suffering a deep financial crunch and demanded both the Union and the state governments to address the issue immediately. TNN
