LUDHIANA: Two officials of the Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) — SDO Ankit Narang and executive engineer Boota Ram — will have to join the investigation in the
LIT scam following the orders of Punjab and
Haryana high court.
Narang and Boota Ram are among those officials of LIT who had been booked in corruption cases pertaining to allotment of residential plots under locally displaced persons (LDP) scheme.
SSP (economic offences wing), Vigilance Bureau, Suba Singh Randhawa said, “The duo had applied for an anticipatory bail in the high court. During the hearing on Thursday, the court directed them to join the investigation.”
On September 16, Boota Ram, executive engineer Jagdev Singh, LIT junior engineer Inderjeet Singh, MC junior engineer Mandeep Singh and Kamaldeep Singh, a resident of Model Town Extension had been booked.
Jagdev Singh, Inderjeet Singh and Kamaldeep Singh had already been arrested. VB officials had claimed that Inderjeet, Boota Ram, Jasdeep and Mandeep had prepared false/fabricated reports to the LIT regarding non-availability of water and sewerage facilities in a locality. With an aim to favour allottee Kamaldeep Singh, the officials had waived off a non-construction fine amounting to Rs 27 lakh without getting an approval from the competent authority.
