PANAJI: Over 40 visitors to Dudhsagar waterfalls in South Goa were rescued after a small cable bridge collapsed on Friday evening as water level rose due to heavy rains.
Life savers of Drishti Marine posted at the water body rescued the stranded people.
Many parts of the state received heavy to moderate rainfall throughout the day. The water level at the state's most famous and biggest waterfall increased significantly, causing a cable bridge to break that led to the main pool of the waterfall.
“The bridge gave way while more than 40 people were left to go to the other side. Our life guards assisted them to cross over,” said Drishti Marine in its statement.
Meanwhile the lifeguarding agency has asked people not to visit Dudhsagar Waterfalls for the next 15 days. From June to September Dudhsagar waterfall is closed for visitors due to rains.
