‘All vendors can’t apply for licences online’

‘All vendors can’t apply for licences online’
Margao: Former minister Manohar ‘Babu’ Ajgaonkar has threatened to take to the streets alongwith Gandhi market vendors if no provision is made by the Margao municipality for applying for trade licences through offline mode within eight days.
Ajgaonkar said that he welcomed the move of the municipality of switching over to the digital mode for issuance of trade licence, however, he said, Gandhi market vendors are mostly cyber illiterate and don’t use smartphones. Because of this, he said they are unable to apply online.
Ajgaonkar suggested that both online and offline modes be made available for the applicants of trade licence, or alternatively, a helpdesk be made operational at the municipality to assist the vendors in applying for the document online.
He has urged chief minister Pramod Sawant to intervene in the matter and resolve the issue forthwith.
