100 more model schools for Assam’s tea tribes
Guwahati: The people of the tea tribe community in Assam will get 100 more model secondary schools soon, as President Droupadi Murmu on Friday virtually laid the foundation stones of the schools from Guwahati.
Besides the model secondary schools for the tea garden areas, the President also laid the foundation stones of 3,000 model Anganwadi centres in the state.
Addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony here, Murmu said the safety and all-round development of women and children are the signs of a civilised society. She expressed happiness over laying the foundation stones of 100 model secondary schools with the aim of providing better education for the kids of tea garden workers as well as the Anganwadi centres in the state.
In May, for the first time since Independence, the Assam CM inaugurated 96 newly built model high schools in the vicinity of tea gardens making education easily accessible for the students of the tea garden community.
