SI gifts slippers to elderly woman, offers her sweets

Kanpur: The humane face of the men in khaki came to the fore today at Narwal police station of the district when a sub-inspector on duty not only patiently listened to the complaint of an elderly woman but also bought a new pair of slippers for her on noticing that she was barefoot. The incident came to light after the video went viral on social media.
Eighty-year-old Ramrati, a widow of Hazratpur village of Narwal, had reached the police station with a complaint against her grandson on Friday afternoon.
The SI Amit Yadav, who was listening to her complaint in the police station, noticed that the woman was barefoot and said, “Amma, where are your slippers?” On which Ramrati replied, “Saheb, I do not have slippers. I came barefoot from the village and saheb, our grandson, is troubling us a lot.”
After patiently listening to her complaint, the SI not only gave support to Ramrati and made her sit on the chair, but later, he offered her ‘laddus’ and water. Thereafter, he bought a new pair of slippers for her and made her wear it with his own hands.
Praising the SI’s action, she patted the SI’s back. Later, the SI consoled her saying, “Now no one will give you trouble, you will not have any problem.”
