Chhath: Patna Municipal Corporation officials on toes amid rise in Ganga water level

PATNA: Preparations for the forthcoming Chhath festival are in full swing in the city. The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has taken up repair work, renovation and cleaning of different Ganga ghats in a mission mode.
Patna municipal commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar on Friday inspected several ghats, including Kali Ghat, Patna College Ghat and Krishna Ghat and directed the PMC officials to make necessary preparations keeping in view the rising level of water in the Ganga. He also asked the officials concerned to keep a close watch on the ongoing works of cleaning and painting of ghats and also on the removal of clay and soil from the ghats. “Ensure that all these works are completed well before the commencement of the festival,” he told the officials.
The municipal commissioner was accompanied by the officials and staff of PMC as well as Patna Smart City Limited (PSCL).
The PSCL is also installing cameras on the ghats for constant monitoring of all activities during Chhath.
Parashar had visited different ghats of the city on foot on Thursday and asked the officials concerned to ensure proper cleaning of the ghats and construction of link roads between the ghats and the main road.
