Our govt trying to revive rural economy: Hemant
Jamshedpur: Chief minister Hemant Soren on Friday claimed his government is trying to revive Jharkhand’s rural economy and improve the standard of living of the village residents by ushering in new policies.
“Our government is exploring markets for the forest produce of the state. The forest dwellers will now get a minimum support price for the produce as well,” Soren said at Goilkera in West Singhbhum during the Sarkar Aapke Dwar programme.
“Village girls who migrate to cities and other states for livelihood will now get work in home districts if they apply at the Sarkar Aapke Dwar camps. Instead of working as domestic help in metro towns, it is better to make moderate earning and have a decent life in the village itself," the chief minister said.
Soren said camps will be organised in industrial establishments this year to facilitate the recruitment of locals under the government’s new locals’ job reservation policy.
He said that cattle farming has taken a hit in the state in the last three decades which in turn is causing malnourishment among poor women and children as they cannot always afford to buy dairy products from the market.
"Poor people can't afford to buy meat, egg, milk daily from the market, let us revive the cattle farming, and, have cattle in our homes," the CM said.
The CM said that state government is not receiving strong support from the Central government which was resulting in difficulties for implementing several key projects.
