LUDHIANA: Senior superintendent of police (SSP) vigilance bureau Ludhiana range Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu on Thursday sent a reminder to the Ludhiana commissioner of police Kaustubh Sharma asking for the action taken on his complaint against the Ludhiana member parliament Ravneet Singh Bittu.
SSP Sandhu had lodged a written complaint with the Ludhiana police to take action against Bittu for obstructing them in performing their duty while arresting former cabinet minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu on August 22. however even after 52 days the police has not taken any action.
When he received the complaint, CP Kaustubh Sharma had marked an inquiry, into the matter, however, nothing has been done in this regard.
On August 22, when the officials of Ludhiana VB had gone to a salon near Tagore Nagar for arresting Ashu in the alleged food grain scam, Bittu who was accompanying Ashu, had a heated argument with the VB officials.
Bittu had also deterred the officials from taking Ashu into their custody. A video of which also went viral. In the video Bittu is also heard addressing officials ‘chor’ (thieves).
SSP Sandhu said, “I had given a written complaint against MP Bittu along with the video evidence of the incident. But even after one and half months, no action has been taken. I have sent a reminder to the CP on Thursday asking for an update.”
When contacted, CP Kaustubh Sharma said, “The inquiry report was filed by the investigating officer concerned, however, the district attorney (DA) legal had some objections and, therefore,, the report has been sent back to the investigating officer. This caused a delay in the inquiry.”
