Auto man speeds off to escape woman after making lewd gesture, injures her

THANE: The police have launched a manhunt to nab an auto driver who made a lewd gesture at a 22-year-old woman on Friday.
The police said the auto driver was waiting at the corner of a road near Prabhat talkies while the college going girl was passing by around 6.45am. "The driver made a lewd gesture at her, and the girl confronted him," said a police officer.
The woman got furious and held his hand to get him out of the auto, but he drove off and she was dragged along for a distance.
The young woman fell down and sustained minor injuries. She went to the police station, where officials registered a case.
"We have formed three teams to nab the accused and the CCTVs in the locality are being scanned for further clues in the case. The girl did a brave act and reported the harassment to us, we shall crack the case soon," said a police officer.
A case has been registered with the Thane Nagar police station for molestation under the Indian Penal Code. Nishikant.Karlikar
