Goa extends Bainguinim waste plant bid deadline

Goa extends Bainguinim waste plant bid deadline
PANAJI: The Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC) has extended the time limit to submit bids for setting up the proposed solid waste management plant at Bainguinim to November 8. Earlier, the deadline was October 14.
GWMC managing director Levinson Martins said, “We have extended the time to submit the bids in order to answer queries of interested bidders who have participated in the pre-bid meeting.”
Seven companies have shown interest in setting up the proposed solid waste management plant, of which six have raised a few queries related to relaxation in criteria, including experience and finance.
A senior officer said that they are expecting to get more than seven bids for the project, which will be a state-of-the-art garbage management facility.
On two earlier occasions, not a single bidder was able to fulfil the criteria set by the government, prompting the latter to amend the tender document and float it again.
The successful bidder will have to invest 25% of the project cost, while the remaining 75% will be provided by the state government.
The government will repay the bidder’s investment over a period of 10 years with interest.
