Ludhiana: The 11th youth festival of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (Gadvasu) started with knowledge transfer and fine arts events on Thursday.
On the first day, there were four events: Photography, quiz, cartooning and poster-making. As many as 12 students participated in the photography competition, 18 in quiz, 12 students in cartooning and 13 in poster making. While the topic of poster making contest was ‘Save ggglife’ for photography competition was ‘Light and shade with green’, for cartooning, the topic was ‘Karva Chauth, college campus and canteen’, for on-the-spot painting it was open for any visible nature scene in front of you.
Students from College of Veterinary Science, College of Dairy Science and Technology, College of Fisheries, College of Animal Biotechnology, Veterinary Science College, Rampura Phul (Bathinda), Veterinary Polytechnic, Kaljharani, participated along with affiliated college, Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Amritsar in these events.
In photography, Paramnoor Singh from Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Amritsar, was first, Priyanka from College of Animal Biotechnology and Pulkit Sharma, College of Veterinary Science remained second and third, respectively. In quiz, College of Fisheries , followed by College of Animal Biotechnology of Gadvasu and College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul. bagged top three positions.
Satyavan Rampal from Gadvasu inaugurated the off-stage phase of the youth festival. HS Banga, registrar, was the guest of honour in the first session of soft skills competitions whereas YPS Malik was guest of honour in the quiz competition session. On the occasion Satyavan Rampal, director students' welfare, said youth festivals were an appropriate medium of internal expression of students. “We are providing good facilities to students to improve their performance.”
Organizing secretary of the festival APS Brar said collage making andclay modelling contests would be held on October 14 at examination hall of College of Veterinary Science whereas elocution and poetry competitions at Silver Jubilee auditorium.
