THANE: Three teenagers from Rabale have been arrested for allegedly stabbing a 16-year-old at Airoli station and fleeing with his mobile phone in the wee hours of Tuesday, police informed on Thursday.
The fourth accused is still at large. The phone is also yet to be recovered.
In his complaint, the 16-year-old had stated that at 3.10 am, he was at the ticket booking counter when four men confronted him and told him to hand over his phone.
When he resisted, they started assaulting him and one of them pulled out a knife and stabbed him on the torso. They then snatched his phone and fled, police said.
Thane railway police said they scanned the CCTV footage retrieved from the crime spot and zeroed in on the three suspects who were nabbed from slum settlements in Rabale. "It seems they committed the crime to fund their alcohol addiction. They have no past criminal records," said senior inspector Pandhari Kande of Thane railway police.
