Illegal properties of drug peddler razed in Karnal

KARNAL: A joint team of district town planner and Karnal Municipal Corporation's (KMC) town planning department demolished two illegal shops and a service station in Ram Nagar area in Karnal city on Friday.
District Town Planner (DTP) R S Bath said the properties were illegally constructed on 150 squire yards by a drug peddler named Gulzar.
During the demolition drive, Crime Investigation Agency-II in charge of Mohan Lal accidentally sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital, where he is stable.
Per the police record, 23 cases of NDPS were registered against Guljar, and he was lodged in jail.
Ajay Singh Tomar, Commissioner, of Karnal Municipal corporation said," We were receiving complaints regarding the illegal construction. We served the notices to the owners of the properties. The action was taken following the non-compliance of the notice."
The heavy police force was deployed to maintain the law and order situation.
It is pertinent to mention here that as many as five shops located in Saidpura, which belongs to Gulzar, were also demolished by the joint team last month.
