Ludhiana: Following intervention of a senior police official, the division number 6 police lodged an FIR on sexual assault on a woman after more than a month. The woman had also accused her brother of thrashing her and his friend of sexual assault.
The woman claimed that she had been doing rounds of the police station, but no action was taken. On Wednesday, she met the assistant commissioner of police following which an FIR was lodged.
The 26-year-old married woman alleged that her brother and his friend had come to her house on September 4. As soon as she had told the duo that her husband was not at home, her brother started beating her up and his friend sexually assaulted her. On hearing her cries, her mother-in-law rushed out and raised an alarm following which the accused escaped from the spot.
The woman claimed that for the past several days, she had been visiting the police station. She met the SHO of division number 6 police station who had assured to lodge an FIR. But the official kept delaying the matter without assigning any reason.
ASI Davinder Singh, investigating officer, said a case has been registered against the duo.
