Jaipur: Ahead of Diwali, the state government has announced to give Rs 51,000 as incentive to those who inform about food producing units, food business operators and food vendors involved in distributing ‘unsafe’ food. For this purpose, the health department has launched mukhbir yojna (informer scheme) under which provisions of incentives have been made.
The mukhbir yojna for food safety is launched on the lines of mukhbir yojna for curbing female feticide. On confirmation through lab tests, the incentives will be provided to the informer.
“The informer will get the first installment of Rs 25,000 when the food collected from any unit on their information tests unsafe for human health, while the second and final installment of Rs 26,000 will be given when the challan is produced,” said a senior health department official
If the samples did not tested unsafe but were found sub-standard, the informer will get Rs 5,000, he added.
The department has also issued a toll-free number, 181.
