MNS opposes 75% quota for Gadchiroli in Chanda SRPF Battalion
Chandrapur: The city unit of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has strongly opposed 75% reservation for youths from Gadchiroli district in the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) Battalion established at Korti Makta in Ballarpur taluka in Chandrapur district.
MNS has demanded 75% reservation for Chandrapur in the battalion. MNS city president, Sachin Bhoyar said while locals youths training for police and paramilitary requirements in the district are happy with newly-formed Indian Reserve Battalion-IV under SRPF company-17 at Ballarpur, “their enthusiasm is dampened by 75% reservation given to Gadchiroli district in the battalion”.
Bhoyar stated that the new battalion has only 12.5% reservation each for Chandrapur and Gondia districts.
“Gadchiroli gets 100% reservation in local police recruitment. Similarly, Gadchiroli was given 75% reservation in SRPF company-18 established at Akola. Again Gadchiroli is getting 75% reservation in the Korti Makta battalion in Chandrapur. It is sheer oppression of youths preparing for the police and paramilitary recruitment in our district,” Bhoyar stated in a memorandum sent to the chief minister through the district collector.
He emphasized that like Gadchiroli many talukas in Chandrapur district too are Maoist-infested “and the new SRPF battalion at Korti Makta has been set up for the same reason”.
MNS netas and office bearers also staged protest before the district collector to press their demands.
