Man accused of murder held after 16 years
Rajkot: Sixteen years after the crime, a man who had murdered and robbed a farmer’s wife in Khambhaliya taluka of Devbhumi Dwarka district was arrested from Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday.
The accused, Miyara Bamaniya, was nabbed from his native village of Alirajpur.
In 2006, Bamaniya was working as a farm labourer in Samor village of Khambhaliya taluka. However, he had not disclosed his real name to the farm owner. One night, he barged into the farmer’s house and launched a brutal attack on him and his wife with an intention of loot. Bamaniya chopped off her ear and robbed the earrings. The woman suffered fatal injuries and died in a hospital.
A team of local crime branch got specific information that the murder suspect was living in a village of Alirajpur district. The team camped there for 10 days and started searching for him in some villages based on a few names that they had. They also checked the voter lists and inquired with local sarpanchs but no person of this name was found anywhere.
Thereafter, the team took help of local police and matched the names of the accused's father, wife and brother. Finally they narrowed down the suspect and nabbed him.
