Vasco: Transport minister Mauvin Godinho has directed the Dabolim airport police and the traffic cell to initiate “prompt action” against touts operating at the Dabolim airport premises.
“I will camp the whole day at Dabolim airport. I don’t want any chaos or mess in transportation or taxi services at Dabolim airport. Because of taxi services there is a mess in transportation,” he told reporters after inspecting the taxi counters at Dabolim airport on Wednesday. Godinho held a meeting with the yellow-black taxi operators at his New-Vaddem office on Tuesday evening in order to make them aware of the importance of app-based taxi services.
“I have listened to the grievances of the yellow-black taxi operators. I have briefed them based on reality and they have agreed to the situation. I am trying to help them as in the coming years it will be digital footprint all the way,” he said. We don’t want Dabolim airport to suffer,” he said.
The minister said he did not want Dabolim airport to suffer due a transportation issue.
“I don’t want a situation where everybody will prefer flying down from Mopa airport because today distances are not a problem in Goa. I want to keep the primacy of Dabolim airport going and I it to run side by side. I have taken this initiative and I want to implement it at the earliest time possible,” he said.
“I don’t want any more taxi issues at Dabolim airport and because of that the counters are made available.”
He said that the counters of two taxi associations at Dabolim airport will be handed over to the associations at the earliest.
