Five arrested with brown sugar in Ranchi

Ranchi: A team of Ranchi police on Tuesday conducted raids at different places in the state capital and arrested five persons with brown sugar.
The accused are Jyoti Sharma, her mother Moni Devi, Arjun Sharma, Balram Sharma and Rahul Sharma.
A total of 36 grams of brown sugar, Rs 2.90 lakh cash, electronic weighing machine and four mobile phones were recovered.
The police said Jyoti had been booked in a case registered with the Sukhdeo Nagar police station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act in 2021 as well. She was out on bail.
Arjun is a murder accused in a case registered with the Tupudana police station.
City SP Anshuman Kumar said Jyoti, Moni, Arjun and Balram were arrested from a house at Karamtoli Chowk. Based on the information revealed by them during interrogation, Rahul was nabbed from Ashok Nagar. He said, “The accused have confessed that they used to purchase the drugs online from Sasaram in Bihar. The material was brought to Ranchi by bus. The Sukhdeonagar police would take further action against them.”
