Rajkot: Woman booked for husband’s suicide

RAJKOT: A month after a 32-year-old man ended his life, police have booked his widow and her mother for abetment to suicide.
Raju Thakur, who was working with an oil company in Rajkot, had hanged to death on September 11. On Wednesday, his mother Nirmala approached the University Road police station and lodged a complaint against his widow Ruchi and her mother Asha Thakur.
Thakur was a native of West Bengal and had been living in Rajkot for the last four-and-a-half years. He got married to Ruchi, a native of Chhattisgarh in September 2020. Nirmala told police that she used to often get calls from Thakur who complained of harassment by the duo. She said his mother-in-law did not allow Thakur to speak to his wife or allow him to send money to his mother. They blackmailed him saying he would be responsible if anything happens to them. Tnn
