Varanasi: A joint team of police and local administration in Ghazipur district attached the immovable properties worth Rs 14.20 crore of jailed mafia don Mukhtar Ansari’s close aide Ganesh Dutt Mishra under Gangster Act on Wednesday.
The joint team of officials led by SP Ghazipur Rohan P Botre reached Rajdepur area along with heavy police force. Botre said the process to confiscate Mishra’s three plots of 153 square metre, 76.2 sq mt and 260 sq mt in Rajdepur area and one plot of 1174.8 sq mt in Kapoorpur were completed.
Botre said that under the ongoing drive against gangsters including Mukhtar, his family and gang members in order to destroy the economic empire police detected three plots of Mishra in Rajdepur and one in Kapoorpur. During further investigation it came to light that all these plots had been purchased from illegally earned money, he said adding, cost of these plots was estimated as Rs 14.20 crore.
After collecting all these details policemen sent their investigation report to the district magistrate on October 6. After it the order for confiscation of these properties of Dubey was issued and the team led by Botre completed the formalities of attaching them.
Botre said that Mishra and his father Shivshankar Mishra, who are natives of Shriram Colony Rouja under Kotwali police station are active members of Mukhtar gang. They disturbed public order for materialistic and other benefits. They indulged in criminal and anti-social activities to earn movable and immovable properties.
A total of seven criminal cases are lodged against Mishra with Ghazipur and Mau police while Mukhtar has 58 cases in his criminal history sheet, he added.
