NEW DELHI: In a bid to develop a sense of agency among students and provide them an opportunity to engage with global issues, the Delhi government has introduced e-magazines in its schools. The directorate of education launched 30 such students-led e-magazines on Wednesday.
The e-magazines are from 30 different schools and focus on establishing a process where students engage in creating their own school magazine apart from discussing issues of social and educational importance and presenting their thoughts on the sustainable development goals (SDGs) as laid out by the United Nations.
The first edition deals with quality education for all while the next will be on gender equality.
Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia said, “The magazine aims to initiate a process where student members of the respective boards advocate and participate in the awareness campaign on the value and purpose of SDGs starting from schools. Their inputs are crucial in bringing reformatory changes in society and the world.”
Sisodia further added, “The biggest task before us is to prepare our students to be emotionally resilient and make them ready for the world that is undergoing fast changes due to the influx of transformational technology.”
