Centre trying to intimidate us: Hemant
Bokaro: Chief minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday used the platform for the launch of his government’s “Aapki Yojana – Aapki Sarkar Aapke Dwar” programme to launch an attack on the BJP-led opposition.
After formally launching the programme in Giridih’s Jhanda Maidan, Soren accused the BJP of hatching a conspiracy against him and his government and promised to answer them through development work.
“There is an air of fear and uneasiness in the opposition camp after the historic decisions which were taken by our government in recent weeks. The Centre is also trying to intimidate the coalition government through its agencies (ED) and the courts. But we will not get intimidated as it is the government of the people and has their blessings,” Soren said in his 40-minute speech.
With BJP building the narrative in recent months against Soren over graft allegations and the office-of-profit case against him, the CM on Tuesday tried to build a counter narrative by stating that his government is trying to fix the problems which have been caused over a course of 20 years during which the BJP was in power. “For 20 years, they looted the state. Now, we are trying to fix this and it will take time,” he said. At the formal launch, Soren inaugurated government projects worth Rs 397 crore in the district and handed out assets to over 5.52 lakh beneficiaries. “In the last edition of the programme, over 6,000 camps were set up across the state and over 35 lakh applications were received. This year, benefits of welfare schemes are to be extended to the backward and deprived sections of the society. Applications will be reviewed every day and they will be disposed quickly,” he said.
Listing out the major decisions of the government, Soren said that model schools would soon be constructed in every district with facilities at par with their private counterparts. That apart, state and national toppers of ICSE and CBSE board exams would also be given prize money by the government each year, he said.
