KANPUR: A six-year-old boy fell into an uncovered septic tank and died in Narayanpur in Hanumant Vihar police station area on Tuesday night.
The incident took place while the child was playing with other children outside the house. As soon as the incident came to fore, the family members pulled out the boy and rushed to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
The boy has been identified as Ansh. Sunny Sonkar, a mason and a resident of Maitha area of Kanpur Dehat, has been living in a rented portion of one Jairam's house in Narayanpur in the City for about five years with wife Sita, two sons, including six-year-old son Ansh alias Ballu and three-year-old Akanksha.
According to local sources, Ansh, a student of UKG, was playing outside the house with four-five children at around eight O'clock on Tuesday night. After some time, the rest of the children went home but Ansh did not return. While searching for him, information was obtained from the children but nothing was found.
Later, a ten-year-old child informed that Ansh had fallen into the septic tank at Harish Kumar's under-construction house in the vicinity.
Subsequently, the family members with the help of locals got down into the septic tank and managed to pull out the boy. They took him to the hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
The police questioned the owner of the under-construction house. In-charge of Hanumant Vihar police station Abhilash Mishra said they have not yet received any complaint. Once they receive the same, action will be taken in this regard, he said.
