Minor gang-raped in Patna, 1 arrested

PATNA: A 16-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by her cousin and his friend while she was going to attend the coaching classes in Naubatpur area of Patna.
The accused made a video of the act and made it viral on the social media after which the victim registered a police complaint on Wednesday.
According to the victim, the incident took place on October 7 around 10am when she left the house on her bicycle for the coaching classes. "As soon as she reached near the small garden outside the village, his cousin stopped her. He then forcibly took the girl to an isolated place, where she was raped by him and one of his friends. When the girl raised an alarm, both fled leaving her in a semi-naked state. The victim reached home and informed her relatives about it," said SHO Rafiqur Rahman, reports Faryal Rumi.
The SHO said a video was also made during the incident, which the two juveniles uploaded on social media. "The victim's cousin was arrested on Wednesday while his friend was absconding. The police is conducting raids to nab the other accused."
He said the girl was sent to the hospital for medical examination and her statement was also recorded.
The girl's family members said due to stigma and fear, they remained silent but when the accused sent them a video of the incident and also made it public, they registered the case. The victim also told police that the accused threatened to kill her if she opened her mouth.
