BHUBANESWAR: Four Odisha institutions featured among the top 1,200 names in the World University Rankings, announced by the Times Higher Education, for 2023.
While Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) Bhubaneswar, a deemed-to-be university, got a 601-800 band rank, the other three institutions were placed in the 1001-1200 band. KIIT’s rank band was 801-1000 in the 2022 and 1001+ in the 2021 rankings.
National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, ranked in the band of 1001-1200 this year against last year’s 801-1000. There was no change in the rank band of IIT Bhubaneswar, placed in the 1001-1200 category. Siksha O Anusandhan, Bhubaneswar, another deemed-to-be university, improved its rank from 1201+ last year to 1001-1200 this year.
KIIT founder Achyuta Samanta said the improved ranking was the result of collective efforts of faculties, students and staff. “The rankings reveal that KIIT has fared much better than other institutes, not only in Odisha but in eastern India as well,” the institute said on Wednesday.
