MADURAI:
Tamil Nadu health minister Ma Subramanian on Thursday said the number of
H1N1 cases was coming down in the state. Currently less than 30 cases are reported daily in the state. Around 20 days ago, the state was reporting more than 300 H1N1 cases daily, he said.
Speaking to reporters at Madurai airport, the minister noted that preparatory measures for tackling diseases during the monsoon season were discussed in meetings with officials from different departments. Local administrations were taking necessary steps, he added.
“Efforts are being made to remove stagnant water from all residential areas. We have been conducting more than 1,000 fever camps every day in the state for the past 20 days. So far more than 20 lakh patients have been screened in the camps, and medications were provided to those who need it. As many as 389 mobile units have also been mobilised in the state to ensure fever screening of school students,” he said.
