GURUGRAM: In order to make Sadar Bazar pedestrian-friendly,
MCG on Tuesday started an anti-encroachment drive and removed unauthorised street vendors and confiscated their carts in the area.
“It is one of the oldest markets of the city and is always crowded. It is important to make it encroachment-free since the rescue operations, in case of any untoward incident, will be difficult to carry out,” said MCG spokesperson SS Rohilla.
In January, the city was placed among the top 11 awardees in the Streets4People challenge, an initiative by the central government to make streets pedestrian-friendly. During the March 2021 week-long trial, parking was designated for the vehicles of public and traders.
