MUMBAI: The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of the Customs on Tuesday in two separate cases arrested two persons, including an elderly woman, for smuggling over 2.5kg of gold dust worth nearly Rs 1.3 crore by hiding it inside their undergarments.
The AIU, on the basis of digital profiling, detained two persons in the morning. The detained persons were Sajjad Nore, a resident of Khed in Ratnagiri, and Naeema Ahmed Ulday (62), a Mumbai resident who had arrived from Dubai at the international airport. Officials found 1,284 grams of gold dust worth Rs 62.88 lakh hidden in Nore's underwear 1,290 grams of gold dust worth Rs 63.2 lakh in Ulday's undergarment.
