President Droupadi Murmu to open supercomputer facility at IIT-Guwahati

GUWAHATI: President Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate a supercomputer facility ‘PARAM KAMRUPA’ and a high power active and passive component laboratory ‘SAMEER’ at IIT, Guwahati during her visit to the campus on Thursday.
The event at IIT Guwahati will also include virtual inauguration of Dhurbi Medical College and Hospital in the state and a foundation stone laying ceremony for Zonal Institutes of National Institute of Virology at Dibrugarh in Assam and Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh by the President.
Welcoming the President, IIT-G director Prof TG Sitharam said, “It is our honour and pleasure to welcome the honourable President of India Droupadi Murmu on her maiden visit to our campus. We are delighted that the President will inaugurate the Param Kamrupa, one of its kind supercomputers in the northeastern region, under the National Supercomputing Mission. I look forward to showcasing IIT-Guwahati’s work for the benefit of the northeastern region and its impact on the region.” The President will be accompanied by Assam governor Prof. Jagadish Mukhi, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union minister of state for health and state health and science and technology and information technology minister Keshab Mahanta.
