Mangaluru: Suspected Naxal acquitted

MANGALURU: The principal district and sessions court Mangaluru on Monday acquitted a suspected Naxal Ramesh alias Chenni Ramesh, who was accused of visiting the house of Ramachandra Bhat in Kuthlur, Naravi Gram Panchayat, and setting fire to a car and a motorbike parked outside his house on November 2013.
The accused along with other alleged Naxals Vikram Gowda, Savitri, Sundari, Vijay, Jayanna and others had visited the house. A case was booked under Sections 10 (B) and 12 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Sections 3, 25, read with 25 of the Arms Act, along with various provisions of the IPC.
Advocate Dinesh Ullepady said nine out of the 22 witnesses were examined. The accused has four pending cases against him in Chikkamagaluru court, and is currently lodged in Bengaluru prison.
