Kerala: Police submit chargesheet in retired government employee's murder case
Manorama, wife of Dinaraj of Meenam Kunnil Veedu at Mosque Lane in Kesavadasapuram, was strangled to death by Adam Ali (21), a native of West Bengal.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The investigating team submitted the chargesheet in connection with the murder of Manorama, a retired government employee, at the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court here on Tuesday.
The team headed by Medical College police station SHO P Harilal could submit the chargesheet within 63 days after the crime (August 7). The 300-page chargesheet includes 65 witnesses, 30 booties and 58 records.
Manorama, wife of Dinaraj of Meenam Kunnil Veedu at Mosque Lane in Kesavadasapuram, was strangled to death by Adam Ali (21), a native of West Bengal.
In the beginning, it was suspected that the crime was committed for robbery. But the ornaments, which were suspected to be missing, were found inside the house.
While working with his friends at the construction site, Ali went to the house of Manorama after seeing her husband going out.
Abruptly, Ali stabbed her neck using a knife and later strangled her using the sari, which she was wearing. After the murder, he carried the body to the locked house nearby and dumped into the well.
After the incident, Ali tried to escape to his native place in a train but was caught from Chennai with the help of police there.
The knife used for the murder was recovered but the police could not reveal the motive behind the crime.
