RANCHI: The
Jharkhand high court on Tuesday took suo moto cognizance of the incident where Tana Bhagat tribal community members gheraoed the Latehar civil court and even resorted to violence by pelting stones on the police causing injury to some policemen on Monday.
A division bench of Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad took serious note of the incident and ordered the chief secretary and director general of police to file their individual responses in the matter. The duo were also summoned by the court and appeared in person before the bench.
The court in an oral observation said that such an incident occurring on the campus of a court seems to a complete intelligence failure of the police force.
The security of the court is compromised and the police ought to have been more vigilant in the matter, the judges said.
