Man killed by biz partner over illicit relation in Kota

Kota: A 50-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday for brutally killing his business partner in Kota district on Monday in a fit of rage after finding that the latter had an illicit relation with a woman of his family.
Police said the accused, Madanlal, a resident of Prathvipura village under Ghatoli police station in Jhalawar district, crushed the head of his business partner Dhan Singh, 35, a resident of the same village, with a stone in Modak police station area of Kota district on Monday morning. Madanlal allegedly killed Singh when the latter was asleep on a roadside.
After killing Singh, Madanlal acted as an innocent man and moved around in the area when police officials were conducting investigation of the case, said an official. Police cracked the murder mystery within hours and arrested Madanlal.
He was produced at a court on Tuesday and taken on a 3-day police remand for interrogation.
Modak SHO Rajendra Prashad said Singh’s blood-stained body was recovered from along NH 52 near Sarawada bus stand on Monday morning. A case was lodged following a complaint by his father and a probe began. Police managed to solve the case within hours.
“Madanlal was arrested after a probe. He admitted to have crushed Dhan Singh’s head by multiple attacks with a stone when he was asleep in the wee hours of Monday. Both men were business partners engaged in loading and unloading of fodder by a Pickup truck from Ghatoli in Jhalawar to Kota. It was learnt that the accused was angry with Dhan Singh as the latter had an illicit relation with a woman of his family. He was conspiring to murder Singh at a suitable time,” said the SHO.
When Madanlal and Singh, accompanied by another man identified as Mahendra of the same village, were coming to Kota in a fodder-loaded Pickup truck on Sunday night, the vehicle broke down near Sarawda bus stand on NH-52, the SHO said. Madanlal and Mahendra slept in the vehicle while Dhan Singh slept on the roadside around 20 metre away even as it was raining throughout that night, he added.
During interrogation, Madanal confessed that he woke up around 3-4am and crushed a sleeping Singh’s head with a stone in multiple attacks, killing him on the spot. He then returned to his place and resumed sleeping, added the SHO.
It was Madanlal who had informed police in the morning about Singh’s death and had stayed around the place when the cops were carrying out the probe there. But the probe soon zeroed in on him as it was impossible to believe that he was unaware of the murder taking place only 15-20 metre away. He confessed the crime during sustained interrogation.
Mahendra is also under investigation in the matter, added the SHO.
