Guwahati: In a bid to further extend rail connectivity in Manipur, the NFR has decided to extend the Agartala-Jiribam Jan Shatabdi Express train to Khongsang in Manipur.
The train will commence its regular journey from October 14 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, NFR CPRO Sabyasachi De stated.
The inaugural special of this train will be flagged off by President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday from Agartala railway station.
This section has been newly constructed under Jiribam-Imphal new line project. The train will cover 300 km to Khongsang in half the 15 hours it takes to travel the distance by road.
The Jan Shatabdi will be having new Linke Hofmann Busch coaches with latest amenities for passengers. Moreover a Vistadome coach has also been added in this train, the CPRO added. tnn
