BSP chief Mayawati says condition of roads in UP a cause of worry

LUCKNOW: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president Mayawati said that the incidents of expressways caving in in the state had exposed the claims of the state government.
She said in a tweet that 982 potholes in a 50km stretch of Lucknow-Unnao road were only one instance.

"The regular incidents of newly constructed expressways caving in, bad condition of roads in western UP, Purvanchal and in the entire state and fatal accidents that are taking place because of this is being discussed everywhere which exposes the claims of the government," she said.
Mayawati said that after the BJP government came into power for the second time in UP, promises and claims to make roads free of potholes have been made by almost every leader and minister but similar to the other claims made by them the failure to make the state free of potholed roads has become a cause of worry for the people.
"Nevertheless, to rub salt on people's wounds both the Centre and the state governments are not hesitating in selling the dream of America-like roads to people," she added.
