RANCHI: The resumption of the stalled interview process for the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) assistant engineer recruitment resumed on Monday giving relief to about 1,250 aspirants, who are waiting to bag jobs since 2015, when the recruitment notice was first published. Talking to TOI, Rahul Kumar, an aspirant, said,
"We have been waiting for the stalled process to resume. It's been seven years now since the recruitment process for assistant engineers began but it is still ongoing. Even after clearing prelims and main exams, our interview process was on hold due to the absence of the chairman for three months. We hope that the process resumes and results are out before Diwali."
Namish Kumar, another aspirant, said, "We are relieved that the process would culminate with the commencement of the interviews."
He added, "Even after years of waiting, 40% of the candidates' interview procedures remained on hold. The delay in the interview process due to the absence of JPSC's governing body caused us to wait longer."
The JPSC conducted the preliminary test in January 2020 and the mains were held in October 2021. However, the recruitment process landed in controversy and was put on hold after Jharkhand high court snubbed JPSC for granting reservation in the preliminary test. The interviews began on May 29, 2022, but were suspended on June 6 this year a day after its chairman (late Amitabh Choudhary) retired. Since then, it was in a limbo for want of a formal chairman. In September, the government appointed retired IAS officer, Mary Neelima Kerketta, as the new JPSC chairman after which the commission resumed the interview process.
