Kambala patron passes away

Mangaluru: Veteran kambala patron Iruvail Panila Bada Poojary died after a brief illness at his house in Iruvail on Monday. He was 90.
A farmer and owner of kambala buffaloes, Poojary was active in rural sports. ‘Thate’ and ‘Bottimar’, buffaloes owned by him, had bagged several medals at various Kambala events held in coastal districts in the past 23 years.
Noted kambala jockey Shrinivas Gowda had competed in events with the buffaloes owned by Poojary. He is survived by his wife Devaki, six sons and two daughters.
