GUMLA: The families of the India football captain, Astam Oraon, hailing from Gumla and her teammate Sudha Ankita Tirkey were gifted LED television sets and inverters by the district administration on Tuesday to help them watch their wards play in the FIFA U-17 women's World Cup which formally kicked off in Bhubneshwar on Tuesday.
District officials said after learning about the plight of the families of Astam and Sudham Ankia of not being able to watch their children play due to the lack of TVs, the administration decided to gift them LED TVs.

"Because of our daughter, we have a TV in our home for the first time," Astam's father said, adding that it is because of his daughter's achievement, the administration is also now building a stadium and roads in her name.
Tirkey's mother Sunita said, "Our family is overjoyed to have a TV. Now we can watch our daughter play the World Cup matches."
The DC said, "It's a form of encouragement from our side and a goodwill gesture to the families who produced such talented players who fought against all odds to get into the Indian team and play for the country.
