PANAJI: Congress State president Amit Patkar along with Opposition leader Yuri Alemao met
Rahul Gandhi in the Karnataka leg of Bharat Jodo Yatra on Tuesday to discuss a roadmap for the party’s future in Goa.
“His (Gandhi’s) valuable guidance and words of motivation energised us to fight and work for Goa. We will build a new team of loyal, honest and dedicated functionaries,” Patkar said in his twitter message after the meeting.
Overall, the meeting was fruitful, and Gandhi has given a green signal to revamp the party and act against indisciplined functionaries, said Patkar.
“We discussed at length the prevailing situation in the state, the organisational set-up and changes that needs to be made to rebuild the party from the grassroot level,” he said.
Patkar and Alemao also walked the yatra in Karnataka whereas more workers from Goa are set to join the yatra after Diwali.
In the House of 40, the Congress has been left with just three MLAs after the exit of eight last month.
While the morale of the party workers has been at an all time low since the setback it suffered last month, a senior party functionary said, they are trying hard to rise again.
