Bicholim: A nearly 80-year-old narrow bridge at Sinhacha Baand in Bhile, Surla, will be demolished to make way for a new seven-meter wide bridge. Work on the bridge began on Monday.
Surla sarpanch Vishranti Surlakar and ZP member Gopal Surlakar and panch member Subhash Fondekar said that the new bridge will be constructed by the public works department at a cost of 70 lakh. While construction is on, traffic in the area will be diverted via Navelim village.
This road will be closed for at least three months. The Surla panchayat has appealed to the commuters and pedestraians to cooperate fully in this development work.
