'ZDNET Recommends': What exactly does it mean?
ZDNET's recommendations are based on many hours of testing, research, and comparison shopping. We gather data from the best available sources, including vendor and retailer listings as well as other relevant and independent reviews sites. And we pore over customer reviews to find out what matters to real people who already own and use the products and services we’re assessing.
When you click through from our site to a retailer and buy a product or service, we may earn affiliate commissions. This helps support our work, but does not affect what we cover or how, and it does not affect the price you pay. Neither ZDNET nor the author are compensated for these independent reviews. Indeed, we follow strict guidelines that ensure our editorial content is never influenced by advertisers.
ZDNET's editorial team writes on behalf of you, our reader. Our goal is to deliver the most accurate information and the most knowledgeable advice possible in order to help you make smarter buying decisions on tech gear and a wide array of products and services. Our editors thoroughly review and fact-check every article to ensure that our content meets the highest standards. If we have made an error or published misleading information, we will correct or clarify the article. If you see inaccuracies in our content, please report the mistake via this form.
Amazon is gifting us with another Prime Day this year, and it's going on right now. Whatever you're looking to shop for is on sale during the 2022 Prime Early Access sales event on October 11 and 12.

There are steep discounts on tablets -- from Amazon Fire products to Apple's iPads. We will be updating this list frequently with the best tablet deals during October Prime Day, but here are a few standout deals to check out now.
The top three deals are below, but we've listed additional Amazon deals worth checking out further down the page, and we've highlighted other great finds at non-Amazon retailers, such as Target and Best Buy, too.
THERE ARE SEVERAL MORE TABLET DEALS BELOW.
You can snag Amazon's 8-inch tablet for 44% off right now. Plus, if you have an eligible tablet to trade in, you can receive an additional 20% off the price.
As far as the tablet goes, you can expect 1280 x 800 resolution, 32 or 64 GB storage, up to 12 hours of battery life, and of course, Amazon Alexa capabilities.
Apple's products rarely go on sale, and it's especially rare to see the iPad Pro fall under the $950 price point. But right now, you can get Apple's best iPad for 18% off during the Amazon sale. The iPad Pro is arguably Apple's most powerful tablet, and with it, you'll get a 12.9-inch Liquid Retina XDR display, Apple's M1 chip, Face ID, Thunderbolt/USB 4 port, and up to 10 hours of battery life.
Samsung's Galaxy Tab 8 tablet is currently 30% off during the Amazon sale. You can expect a 10.5-inch screen, 32 GB of storage, 1920 x 1200 resolution, and a long-lasting battery. It also comes in three striking colors: dark grey, pink gold, or silver.
Here are the latest Amazon Prime Early Access Sale deals we could find on tablets:
Target, Walmart, and other retailers are running competing sales at the same time as Amazon's Prime Early Access Sale. ZDNET is keeping an eye on those sales so we can bring you the top deals on tablets everywhere.
We chose these Prime Day October deals on tablets based on the brand, discounted price, and product reviews (both good and bad).
To find other Amazon deals, select the category you are interested in, like tablets. Then, on the left-hand side of the category page, scroll down and you'll find "Deals" with a "Today's Deals" box underneath it. Check that box to see available deals.
Even though we had Prime Day in July, Amazon is holding a second Prime Day-like event this October called Prime Early Access Sale. This event offers shoppers early access to steep discounts and deals ahead of Black Friday and holiday shopping (since it's never too early to start shopping for the holidays).
While this week's event is not officially branded a "Prime Day" sale, it's similar: It will last a couple of days and is limited exclusively to Prime subscribers.
