Chennai: Ganja peddler slashes neck, escapes cops

CHENNAI: A ganja peddler slashed his neck with a blade as police cornered him at Korattur on Sunday. Admitted to KMC hospital, he slipped away from the hospital on Monday. Police are searching for him.
Police identified the man as Silambarasan, a resident of Pothi Amman Koil Street in Korattur. He was involved in more than 20 ganja peddling and other cases reported in the city and its suburban police stations.
Based on a specific tip, a police team led by the inspector of police Krishnamurthy went to Silambarasan's house on Sunday night. They seized half a kg of ganja from his house. Immediately, Silambarasan inflicted an injury on the neck himself and collapsed on the floor.
