Coronation Street actor Chris Fountain has opened up about the minor stroke he suffered. On the chat show "This Morning", actor Chris Fountain said that he suffered the stroke in August while sleeping. A blood clot travelled to his brain, which caused the 35-year-old to speak like a toddler.

Speaking to Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield on The Morning, Chris said that he had been taking care of his health. He said he lost weight and maintained a healthy diet before the stroke. He added that the doctors had no definitive answer as to why he had suffered the stroke.

Chris added that subsequent tests in London confirmed that he had a hole in his heart, which is a common condition. He said that a blood clot from the whole travelled to the left side of his brain, and the consequences could have been much worse. Talking at The Morning, Chris said that though his experience was traumatic, he could’ve lost his left arm, or his face could’ve dropped.

Another possible kind of stroke is known as the transient ischemic attack (TIS), which essentially means the person has a mini stroke. It occurs when the blood supply to the brain gets blocked for a short period of time and usually causes no permanent damage.

The incident happened on August 12. Chris' mom woke him for a phone call when he realised something was wrong when he couldn’t speak properly. He said he couldn’t realise what was happening and eventually went to the hospital. Chris was admitted to the Royal London Hospital for five days, where the doctors detected that he had suffered a Transient Ischaemic Attack.
